Nashville-based indie rock group Dromia are premiering the video for a brand-new single today, titled “Lovelorn.” Dromia’s atmospheric, moody sound will likely appeal to fans of groups like The Smashing Pumpkins, Cocteau Twins, and my bloody valentine.
The trio say about the track: “This is the first song we ever wrote. It captures the inescapable desperation of wanting someone to feel the same way about you as you feel about them.” The tension certainly comes through the grungy, distorted guitar riffs at the opening of the track, slowly building throughout beneath the gorgeous ’90s vocals.
Dromia worked with Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz at his new studio, called HISS Recordings. Raskulinecz notes that the inspiration behind this project is to launch a few singles a month with a previously unknown band. He discovered the band in early 2025, and says regarding their collaboration:
“I let Dromia use a room next to my studio to practice in back in early 2025. As the months went by I started to hear the songs they were writing, and they were totally stuck in my head!!! So I asked them if they would want to put out a couple of songs on HISS. We picked two songs, recorded them over a weekend and are stoked at how they came out!!!”
“Lovelorn” is available now on streaming, but keep an eye out on social media for a 7-inch physical release as well.
