Rock cellist Gordon Withers just dropped a sick Jawbreaker cover on the cello! He gives a whole new feel to the vibe of classic “Ashtray Monument.” The full album, Jawbreaker on Cello, drops November 1 via New Granada Records.
“‘Ashtray’s’ driving rhythm translate perfectly on cello ,” Withers explains. “The pattern and pitches are right in a sweet spot, making it powerful and fun to play. I feel like this arrangement shows off the tightness of the original songwriting—the choruses and bridges expand in just the right ways and contract perfectly back to each verse riff. Also, it’s catchy as hell—when I was recording it, my family members would walk around humming parts for the rest of the day!”
