Swedish metalcore act Adept mark their return in almost a decade with a new album, Blood Covenant, which was released through Napalm Records. The album is the band’s fifth full-length record. The band had been relatively quiet since the pandemic, but now they are back with full force.
Blood Covenant
“‘Blood Covenant’ really sets the tone for the whole record. It’s heavy, groovy, and full of that raw energy we’ve missed playing. This one feels like a statement—powerful and unapologetic, with a breakdown that hits harder than anything we’ve done in a while. We’re proud of how it opens the album and lays the foundation for everything that follows.”
Heaven
“‘Heaven’ was the perfect first single for us after such a long break. It’s dark, emotional, and really captures where we are right now as a band. Built around heavy riffs, a massive chorus, and a lot of raw emotion, it deals with carrying old scars and finding the strength to face them. This song really hit home for all of us.”

Define Me
“‘Define Me’ was a fun one to make. It’s got a bouncy, melodic energy and some elements that are a bit outside our usual sound. Having Sannie Å Halvasson join as a guest vocalist brought a beautiful contrast to Robert’s vocals—It adds another layer of emotion. The finger-snap breakdown gives it something fresh and unique, and it’s going to be interesting live.”
YOU
“‘YOU’ is probably the most accessible song we’ve written so far. It’s built around a huge chorus—That’s really where the song started—and we let it grow from there. It’s still got that heavy breakdown that ties it back to our roots, but we had fun experimenting with new sounds and structures. Seeing how well people have responded to it has been amazing.”

Parting Ways
“‘Parting Ways’ is about separation and closure—that feeling of going in different directions while still holding on to something shared. It’s big, emotional, and packed with strong riffs, powerful choruses, and driving breakdowns. We pushed ourselves both musically and emotionally on this one, and we’re really proud of how it turned out.”

Filthy Tongue
“‘Filthy Tongue’ is the unstoppable train of the album—It just hits hard from the start and never lets up. It’s one of the heaviest tracks we’ve written, but there’s also space in it—pads, strings, and chord progressions that bring out the emotion behind all that intensity. We spent a lot of time getting the balance right between chaos and clarity, and it landed exactly how we wanted.”
Time Is a Destroyer
“‘Time Is a Destroyer’ acts as a buildup—short, cinematic, and full of atmosphere. It’s got these post-rock elements and a spoken word part that gives it both beauty and impact. Even though it’s brief, it carries a lot of weight and sets the emotional tone for what comes next.”
Battered Skin
“‘Battered Skin’ is fast, bouncy, and driven by that classic ADEPT energy. It’s a straight-up, no-nonsense track with a big, engaging chorus and riffs that hit hard. This one feels great to play—pure adrenaline from start to finish.”
No Matter the Years
“‘No Matter the Years’ is one of the more cinematic tracks on the record. It starts off slow and atmospheric, then explodes into chaos with fast riffs and sharp verses leading into a huge, emotional chorus. It’s about loyalty, patience, and holding on through time—themes that feel deeply personal to us.”
Ignore the Sun
“‘Ignore the Sun’ captures that balance between melody and aggression that we love. It’s one of those songs that keeps shifting energy, almost like a storm passing through. There’s a sense of resistance and defiance in the lyrics—the idea of not giving in even when everything around you burns.”

The Rapture of Dust
“‘The Rapture of Dust’—a closing statement both musically and emotionally. It’s built on layers of riffs, spoken word, and this feeling of exhaustion and gratitude all at once. For us, it’s about letting go and saying thank you, taking one final breath before the silence.”
