Sunshine Guy: I wrote this one about being bored with your routine and wanting to make a change. Kinda being fed up I guess. It ironically sounds like I’m talking about COVID and the quarantine, but this song was done way before the ‘rona. Well not WAY before, but ya know … Anyhow, that’s one thing I love about music. It’s always there when you need it.
Picasso: This is sorta the breakup song of the album if there was one. It’s basically about me being oblivious to things while in a relationship and girls being upset by that, eventually leading them to slash me open and paint a picture of who I really am with my own blood, showing it to me like, “Look, asshole!” and I’m like “Wow you made that? That’s really dope,” while staggering around still never quite getting it.
The Power of Ideas (feat. Blu): This lil’ number is about how the world is rarely what it seems because the truth is, sadly … totes boring.
Love Is Fine: This is about hitting it off immediately with someone. Like, first date … sparks flying … I def knew you in a past life vibes … that usually (but not always) ends in a “Picasso”-like entanglement.
Breathe Again: I honestly forget what this is about. It’s probably for the best.
Sleeping Limb (feat. R.A. the Rugged Man): Google “Orson Kane, snow globe.”
The Craving: This track is about codependency. The Giving Tree set to a breakbeat and bassline.
Blurred Colors (feat. A-F-R-O): Emotional support for artists is basically nonexistent. Like, if I ever say I’m stressed out or depressed, I get, “But dude, you’re so lucky! You have it great,” or the flip side, which is I’m somehow the problem. You get checked right away, so you learn to go it alone.
I get jealous sometimes when I see all the support people get for their different issues. For example, if someone has anxiety, a whole group of people will step up and say, ‘Don’t worry, I understand how you feel, and I’m here to listen.’
“For me and my specific issues as an artist, that never seems to happen. So, you suck it up. I don’t like to write stuff like this because even that’s a catch 22. What if people take it the wrong way. or it turns people off to me or my music? So, I cryptically put it into my lyrics, venting it to the void. That’s what this song is about.
