Track Premiere: Anne Stott – ‘Love’s the Only High’

Anne Stott

Vbrant, and completely relentless indie-pop singer songwriter Anne Stott has a message of love, uplifting, and hope for the queer and transgender community today, and we’re happy to bring it to you.

Stott, who was born in the U.K. but grew up in Minnesota, now splits her time between New York City and Cape Cod, fancying herself a “political rabble rouser and a creativity junkie.” A classically trained piano player who later learned guitar to create a more multi-faceted approach to her music, Stott has been compared to a cross between Joni Mitchell and Chrissie Hynde for her powerful music calling for social and political change in an increasingly scary world. Last year wrapped up for Stott with the release of her third full length, the dynamic and eclectic Watershed Synapse Experience.

Today, we’re proud to be debuting Stott’s stunning new queer-positive dance pop anthem “Love’s the Only High.” A mesmerizing rhythm sets the background for a love song to the queer community from the queer community, reminding us that queer joy will always overcome evil and intolerance.

“Love’s The Only High was written before the election and this new administration took office,” says Stott. “When the election was over, I knew we had to release it as a love letter to the queer and trans community. We need joy and reminders of our deep beautiful spirit in this repressive backward time. These are cruel times for queer and trans people. We will need to fight politically, but also to celebrate our courage and love. Love’s The Only High is here to lift our spirits.”

Don’t miss out on Anne Stott and Timothy Patrick’s podcast BREAKDOWN that, appropriately enough, breaks down the current political and social situation from two very proud and surprisingly blunt queers.
