Alternative group Attempt Survivors are sharing their new track, “Educated Hips.” Check it out right here at New Noise.
The band name immediately harkens toward a darker conversation, though Attempt Survivors argue that life itself entails a series of sometimes completely divergent attempts that are survived, until they are not.
The new collaborative supergroup features members of: Helmet, Saetia, Six Going On Seven, Error Type: 11, and Big Collapse.
They have announced today that they have signed to Iodine Recordings and will be releasing their debut EP this spring.
“All art is a kind of confession, more or less oblique,” James Baldwin argues. “All artists, if they are to survive, are forced, at last, to tell the whole story, to vomit the anguish up.”
This is often what the band embrace, telling a fuller story and sound, actualized through their own experiences both in life and music. The “post-post-hardcore” songs act as a conversation between the four individuals, working out collectively how to tell the stories of their lives. Attempt Survivors often blend ’80s goth, expansive ’70s rock, ’90s emo, and more, while still forging ahead to create their own, unique dialect.
Joshua English chats more about the new track:
“‘Educated Hips’ was written as Adam, and I tried to find our footing putting together the pieces of what this project could be. It seemed the initial ‘obvious’ choice as we worked via FaceTime to complete each other’s sentences. A dissonant guitar, Kyle’s cool drum groove, and a bit of philosophical pessimism thrown in for good measure. Eric added a great call/response bass groove, andMatthew did his thing—simultaneously acknowledging the song’s nuance & living out his EVH fantasy.”
