Charleston-based synthpop duo Babe Club are sharing their new single, “That Feeling,” which has its origins in the pandemic.
Babe Club are the brainchild of Jenna Desmond and Corey Campbell. The duo met back in college, began collaborating, and then joined the Americana act Susto following graduation. After playing stages and festivals over the years, they decided to create Babe Club and begin to foster their own sound, resulting in the band’s dreamy and melancholic vibe.
Their new track came to fruition following Desmond’s unemployment for six months, suddenly having an abundance of free time to sit around in her head, often resulting in anxiety about the future and discouragement in releasing new music.
“‘That Feeling’ is about adulthood induced depression,” she says, “When you land in it, realize you’re all alone, and you’re not naive anymore.”
