Born out of Midwest basement shows, Madison, Wisconsin’s grunge-punk dynamos Bashford ride life’s highs and lows on their new album Wannabe, which comes out on Friday from Big Neck Records. Priding themselves on being “loud when it needs to be, quiet when it hurts the most,” their sound is one that’s marked by alternating tension and release. Today, the band are debuting the track “Odyssey” off the new album, a grungy rocker with a touch of ’80s melodic punk spirit that recalls The Replacements.
“Odyssey is about the journey — pushing through doubt and uncertainty to reach your dreams,” says Bashford’s Luke Peltonen. “For us, it’s about being musicians, but the message is universal: keep moving forward, trust yourself, and keep going until you feel whole.”
