Long Island acoustic punk duo Bitters and Distractions, made up of Jeremy Quitko and Travis Johnides, was started as Quitko’s outlet to write about his young, formative years in Colorado and the loss of a close friend. With Johnides composing music to match Quitko’s lyrics, they produced a full-formed band that performs punk with stripped-down, acoustic arrangements.
Today, the band are debuting their latest single “The Threads” the day before it comes out via Sell the Heart Records. While distinctly an acoustic punk song, complete with a dual vocal chorus, there’s an overwhelming sense of melancholia in the song that will drive you to tears. “The song is a bittersweet toast to the journey, the struggles, and the moments that define us,” the band say about the song. “It’s about holding onto hope while acknowledging the scars along the way.”
