Started in 2017 as the solo project of singer and guitarist Courtney Ranshaw, Black Adidas later rounded out their lineup with Daniel Alexander on keyboards, bass guitarist Octavio Gallardo, and drummer Stephen Hoke. They pride themselves on a sound they describe as being equal parts The Clash and The Cure, bringing together a powerful punk sound with synthpop undertones.
Today, the band are premiering their latest single “Are We There Yet?” via Dirt Cult Records, a gang-vocal heavy punk song underlined by a gorgeous synth element that creates a unique combination of power and melody. “I feel like it’s taken all eight years, or seven years, to kind of get to this point,” explains Ranshaw. “I feel like the record that we’re recording now, this song, everything we’re doing live, is kind of culminating in this. There’s a band that’s what we want it to be!”
