Track Premiere: Blind Adam & The Federal League – ‘All Your Favorite Bands’

Chicago-based band Blind Adam & The Federal League have a fresh track, “All Your Favorite Bands,” and it’s premiering today, here at New Noise.

Frontman “Blind Adam,” Adam Gogola, embarked on the new endeavor after he was diagnosed with hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), which leaves those stricken with central vision loss. Once he adjusted to his new reality, Gogola picked the guitar back up, and The Federal League followed soon after.

Blind Adam & The Federal League—comprised of Adam Gogola (vocals/guitar), Alex Simotes (bass/vocals), Ellie Z (lead guitar/vocals), Athen Erbter (drums), Tim Schumann (guitar/backup vocals)—worked with producer Dan Tinkler (Wandering Birds) for the new track.

While the members have fostered their own sound and bond, they have no shortage of experience in the industry, respectively playing in bands such as Article 57, The Night Brigade, Badwater Sound, Boob Sweat, Ugly Flannel, and Loss Leader.

Gogola says that “All Your Favorite Bands” by Dawes became one of his favorites over the past few years and inspired the band to pursue their own unique take.

“I was missing friends, going to shows, and being on the road—hoping we would get back to it someday. We delayed the release of our last album, An Act of Desperation, in the wake of COVID-19 to focus on mutual aid and solidarity with the uprisings that broke out in response to the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police. We weren’t sure what 2022 was going to look like as a band, since our planned shows had been canceled, so when we got the offer to support The Bouncing Souls on this tour, we kind of joked about turning ‘All Your Favorite Bands’ into a punk rock song as a tribute to everyone we have connected with through music over the years.”

As Blind Adam & The Federal League gear up for their new tour, Gogola says that tour mates The Bouncing Souls “really put the wind back in our sails.”

“We weren’t sure what we were going to be able to do as a band in 2022; we don’t have a booking agent, and it was hard to know when to start booking shows during the Omicron wave,” Gogola says. “The Bouncing Souls have been one of our favorite bands since we were kids and have been super supportive of all my bands over the years. The nickname ‘Blind Adam’ was actually given to me by Bryan Kienlen, the bassist of the Bouncing Souls.”
