Wilmington, Delaware’s Challenger, a band comprised of vocalist, Andrew Price and multi-instrumentalist/producer, Steve Payne, present a master class in creating heavy, yet hook-driven, guitar music. “Sitting, Waiting” is their second single following their recent debut single, “Hoodie Kid.” Both singles are part of an upcoming concept album in which “Hoodie Kid” is “abducted and augmented” with a robotic aluminum hand. His unusual prosthesis propels his journey to reclaim his lost love.
“Sitting, Waiting” hits digital streaming platforms on September 24.
The band collaborated with Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday/Say Anything) and are releasing the song with Fred’s, Heading East Records. Challenger also tapped Los Angeles-based producer, Godfather666, who played drums and mixed the album.
Mascherino says of the project, “Making a concept album is always an epic undertaking. These guys took their time and have something really special here.”
Singer Andrew Price adds, “Steve and I have made music together in different genres for over 10 years. Challenger is our heaviest, most cohesive, guitar-driven music to date.”
Challenger has added a lineup to play live and will announce dates soon.
