A saxophone makes absolutely every genre of music sound better, not just jazz. It makes ska sound better (The Slackers, Fishbone), it makes punk better (X-Ray Spex, Downtown Boys, The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower), it even makes metal better (White Ward). And Milwaukee surf-garage rockers Devils Teeth prove that a saxophone undeniably improves garage rock.
Founded in 2016, Devils Teeth is back for their upcoming third album, The Key of Dickie G, out August 23 on Triple Eye Industries. Today they’re debuting their latest single off the upcoming album, the album’s closing track “Wolfin’ Out.”
“You know when it’s Friday night, work is done, and it’s time to go out and look for a good time?” ask Devils Teeth as a way of explanation about their track. “You take a shower, do your hair, put on your leisure suit, and dab some English Leather cologne on your neck. That’s what ‘Wolfin Out’ makes me think of. Transforming yourself for the wild full moon night ahead of you.”
With big, bombastic, fuzzy guitars and a wild swinging saxophone, and an electrifying rockabilly-surf bass, it’s hard not to fall in love with this noisy, hard-stompin’, soulful, rockin’ track. Check it out below.
The Key of Dickie G is out on August 23 and you can preorder it on Bandcamp. Follow Devils Teeth on Facebook and Instagram for future updates.
