Track Premiere: Discourage – ‘The Tyger’

Oakland’s hardcore maniacs Discourage are sharing “The Tygre,” a track from their upcoming album In Leu of Flowers. The song also features Matt Wilson from Set Your Goals. It was produced by drummer Matt Tyler with Marc Estabillo and Alex Jacobelli, and it will be released through War Records.

Vocalist Eric Pocock shares his thoughts:

“The Tyger is about being overwhelmed and feeling down on the world and finding that the anchors that we once relied on for comfort and moral stability just don’t cut it anymore. It’s about that disillusioned feeling of, ‘Where do I go from here?’ and the fear that comes from the realization that there’s just some things no song can fix.

“The name comes from the William Blake poem of the same name. He wrote this series called The Songs of Innocence and Experience that tackles these same feelings from different angles, and “The Tyger” really emphasizes the idea of having more questions than answers and understanding that sometimes there’s no peaceful resolution.”
