Texas quartet Faulty Cognitions are sharing their new track “Crisis of Faith,” taken from their upcoming album Somehow, We Are Here. Somehow, We Are Here will be released on April 12 through Cercle Social Records.

Vocalist Chris Mason shares his thoughts:
“Crisis of Faith is about living in a country where a vocal minority of right-wing Christian extremists cling to power by enforcing their regressive worldview on all of us. These last few years we’ve witnessed an onslaught of abortion bans, anti-trans laws, book bands, and so on. At times, it has all felt pretty bleak, but I remain hopeful. There is a generation of people who are rejecting their indoctrination and who are choosing to reckon with their religious trauma. I for one am looking forward to a time when the megachurches aren’t receiving enough tithes to keep their doors open. When that day comes, let’s turn those spaces into places where real community can be built.”
Faulty Cognitions was formed by Mason when he relocated from Portland, OR. He started the band with his old buddy Yole Centeno (Nocturnal Prose, Sacred Games, and other San Antonio punk favorites). Yole Centeno took on the bass duties, and they quickly recruited guitarist Nick Obregon and drummer Mike Nira. Very soon, a demo was produced which led to the production of the brand-new record We Are Here. Somehow.
