Track Premiere: Filth Is Eternal – ‘Pearl Slug’

Despite the name, Seattle’s formerly titled Fucked and Bound, now christened Filth Is Eternal, have always felt fundamentally untethered—a primal, wild thing. Accelerated by isolation, a rechristening in 2021 seemed fitting to celebrate their divine vulgarity. With this evolution comes their second LP, Love is a Lie, Filth is Eternal, out August 27 through Quiet Panic.

New Noise are proud to premiere “Pearl Slug” below:

Love is a Lie, Filth is Eternal features “Pearl Slug” alongside lead single, “On the Rake,” and represents a harvest experience from highs and lows, pushing ahead with tracks that span from raging d-beat to serpentine sludge.

The group—comprised of vocalist Lisa Mungo (He Whose Ox is Gored, former touring member of Daughters), guitarist Brian McClelland (He Whose Ox is Gored), bassist Rah Davis (Skelator, Cages, former touring member of Cattle Decapitation), and drummer Mathew Chandler (Reburied)—have collectively achieved an air of unhinged freedom by thrashing their way through unassuming, beloved punk venues, writhing across unwashed floors and DIY spaces, hosting their own sort of hardcore communal exorcisms.

They’ve toured with Haunted Horses and Languish and shared the stage with varied acts such as Amigo The Devil, Cult Leader, Goatwhore, Graves At Sea, Infernal Coil, Marissa Nadler, Wolves In The Throne Room, and YOB.

On the release of their latest track, Mungo states:

“One of the quickest and dirtiest on the album, ‘Pearl Slug,’ is about how we move in the world through uncertainty. Draped around a street banger shell is a song about love and loss, flippancy, and the implications of intimacy. If sometimes people leave and we don’t know why, all you can do is keep on keeping on, sometimes.”
