Track Premiere: Head Cut – ‘Espejo Eléctrico’

Head Cut

Ventura, California’s bilingual post-punkers Head Cut shows off a punk rock energy with a post-punk moodiness. With their own brand of dark punk, the band’s self-titled 2022 debut is as lively as it is atmospheric. Their follow-up album, Corazón Negro, is coming out this spring on the band’s self-titled Head Cut Records.

Today, the band is giving you a sneak peek at their first single off the album, “Espejo Eléctrico” (which translates to “Electric Mirror”).

“The average user peers into a device with a conductor material called indium in a give and take dance an average of 58 times per day,” explains the band’s vocalist Sasha Green regarding the new song. “We all anticipate, whether unconsciously or intentionally, that this tool will bring us closer to each other. Is it real, a dream or an actual community that makes us stronger or is it potentially our demise. Either way we are connected through an electronic mirror fever dream of aspirations. Participate at your own risk.”

With deep bass grooves and a danceable beat, this Spanish-language track is as infectious as it is sinister sounding. The sparse lyrics tell a foreboding warning about the dangers of smart phones, leaving the haunting melody to drive the point home. Check out the track below.
