Northern California’s Holy Water are a duo comprised of punk scene veterans who’ve marked time with The Lonely Kings, Ways Away, Racquet Club, and more. However, with this band, Jacob Desrochers and Ian Smith present something altogether different—art-damaged dance music that leans heavily on electronic sounds popularized by new wave and post-punk forbearers. According to the band, “the music designed to foster an emotional and spiritual sonic experience with honest communication layered with dark ambience.”
The first single from their forthcoming TIDES LP for Sell The Heart Records is “IN PERFECTION.” Of the song, Desrochers says, “‘IN PERFECTION’ was written out of a false narrative I navigate around getting edgy when things don’t go my way. The criticism we apply to others is often a direct reflection of our own behaviors we are unable to accept.”
