Brooklyn-based, noise-drone duo King-Mob will drop their debut EP, Dead Roads, on May 14.
New Noise are proud to premiere the first single from the EP, “Stomp and Shiver,” below:
“Stomp and Shiver” is a noisy blues approach with influences in the vein of early Swans, Link Wray, or Death Grips.
Dead Roads furthers the blues influences with a heavy, minimal sound; distorted vocal fragments; and drum loops.
On the single’s release, King-Mob state:
“When we wrote the song, we were trying to channel some of Junior Kimbrough’s phrasing and minimalism while being driven by heavy sparse drums.
Our main challenge with the direction of the sound was resisting filling in the spaces and allowing the loops to fit in. We tracked the song live and this was with the first take we recorded and kept.”
