Track Premiere: Melodic Canvas – ‘Falling Out’

Melodic Canvas
Melodic Canvas share "Falling Out" from the forthcoming Discoloration album for Setterwind Records.

Melodic Canvas releases their gloriously fuzzy Discoloration album via Setterwind Records on July 18. Pre-save the album here.

Melodic Canvas emerged from the deep woods of Northern Michigan in 2016 as the creative undertaking of musician and visual artist Evan Alderton. An experimentalist at core, his music contains a fusion of alternative rock and shoegaze, with shades of folk. Melodic Canvas sonically echoes the angst-ridden era of the ’90s and brings the fervidness and visceral intensity into the modern day. Heavy reverb, loud blaring guitars, and eerie, atmospheric soundscapes make his music distinctively haunting, evoking an “under the skin” feeling in listeners.

After various lineup changes, Alderton has finally gathered the best lineup yet while retaining inspiration from the vast mysteriousness of nature and the dark, hidden corners of the mind. Melodic Canvas endlessly thrives on idiosyncratic, eccentric, and melancholic ideas, exploring and encapsulating the unseen and unheard.

Fans of Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Superheaven, Superbloom, Swervedriver, Oasis, High Vis, Narrowhead, Foo Fighters, Dig, Hum, and Rival Schools are sure to connect with Melodic Canvas’ sound.

Today, the band shares another single from the album, “Falling Out,” which hits streaming on July 5.
