Texas punk band MoonKill started the way any punk band really should: completely by accident. Starting after a random jam session in a t-shirt factory in Austin, Texas, the band were brought together by their drummer who was the mutual friend amongst everyone, including a guitarist who lived in a trailer in the drummer’s driveway at the time. They put together their debut, three-song EP, The Kong Sessions, in the loft of a friend’s screen-printing shop, which is about as DIY as punk rock gets. Now they’ve just finished up their self-titled debut album, which comes out on May 3.
Today, they’re debuting a new single off that self-titled album called “Ranger Danger Pt. II.” With the spooky atmosphere of an early horror punk band and the crooning vocal style that brings to mind the legendary Glenn Danzig, “Ranger Danger Pt. II” is everything you could possibly want from the darker side of punk. Check out the exciting new track below.
If you’re in the Austin area, check out the band live.
