Los Angeles-based alt-rock band Ramonda Hammer—made up of Devin Davis, Justin Geter, and Andy Hengl—are gaining a reputation for raw emotional music and cathartic live shows. Building a name for themselves out of relentless gigging and community events, this band has struck out with powerful singles earlier this year such as “Eyelash” and “The Panic.” Now they’re closing out the singles leading up to their forthcoming EP Wake Up, Play Nice with their latest single “Hush Money.”
With a unique blend of new wave elements and a guitar-forward rock attack, “Hush Money” is dark pop with a rock edge that makes for a powerfully emotional anthem. “‘Hush Money’ calls out how quickly loyalty and love can collapse under ego,” explains Davis about the track. “It’s a song about greed, betrayal, and the baffling silence that follows when things get messy.”
