Red Mesa are releasing their next record, The Path to the Deathless, June 12 via Desert Records. Check out the title track to get a taste of the psychedelic heaviness.
“The album is written around this song,” explains Brad Frye, vocalist and guitarist. “It encompasses the main idea and all the themes that weave throughout the album—death and beyond, the beginning of a journey, realizing there are many paths to choose in life, but you must choose one for yourself.
“In the studio, we played the song live (except vocals) to capture the truest version possible. I have been holding on to that riff for over a decade now. With Roman and Alex, it was the right time, and they were the right musicians to help bring this song and album to life. This song has been a main staple in our live set for over a year now. Stoked to have everyone hear the recorded version of it.”
Red Mesa are a psychedelic, heavy desert rock trio from Albuquerque, New Mexico who churn out hook-laden jams and blistering live performances as only a band from the actual desert can.
They will release their third, full-length album The Path to the Deathless on June 12. This album is a concept record about death and beyond. Death and dying are harsh realities of the physical world, but the soul and spirit lives on through the “deathless.”
