North Carolina rock band Run Home Jack are premiering their newest, standalone single “N/A,” which will not be featured on their upcoming album; instead, the song serves as a transitional piece from their former style toward their more current sound.
The band are new frontrunners in the rock scene coming out of North Carolina, taking a nostalgic approach to songwriting and pulling their influences from bands like The Used, Sense Fail, My Chemical Romance, and Bayside.
While they draw influences from the past, they also work to incorporate modern production techniques of today’s mainstream rock into their sound.
The band give more insight on the new track: “‘N/A’ is a song written from the perspective of someone struggling with addiction, or mental illness, and realizing that they are destroying their lives in the process. The song is meant to serve as a personal letter to the loved ones of someone struggling with the realization that they need help, but the depression and apathy that comes along with that. The last line of the chorus, ‘I screamed for help and you sang along!’ was written directly about the death of Chester Bennington from Linkin Park.”
