Hardcore band Shiiva are gearing up to drop their new single “Waiting” on January 29, their first release since their 2022 EP Cyclone. Check out the song below.
Regarding the track’s background, Shiiva state state:
“Shiiva has been a band for going on five years in 2025, and we’ve experienced many ebbs and flows, both with the band and in our personal lives. Whether it’s member changes, abruptly moving away from home, or just losing people in different ways—be it through death or fallout—life’s been hitting pretty hard for most people the past few years, and even more so now with everything going on. We’ve been holed up in the studio for a while, working on a bunch of new music, and knew that it was time to release something. Once we heard what our singer Jabril had written over the instrumental we were working on, we just knew it was the one we had to drop.”
And the lyrics? Vocalist Jabril Ward comments:
“This song serves as a vicarious expression of heartbreak and longing, built on the universal emotions tied to love and loss. It tells the story of someone caught in between, holding onto what was while struggling to move forward. There’s a deep sense of frustration, like life is passing by while emotions remain unresolved. The questions left unanswered and the quiet ache of watching others find happiness create a space for vulnerability. This is a reflection of the raw, unfiltered emotions that come with unreciprocated feelings, offering a voice to those moments that are often too hard to articulate. Even if it’s not drawn from personal experience, it’s crafted to resonate with anyone who’s felt the weight of a love that lingers.”
“Waiting” is the first release with drummer James Wheeler and guitarist Justin Melchor who also engineered and mixed the track.
Melchor, says:
“I’m pumped to join the Shiiva team and to drop some music with them. It was a lot of fun recording this, and I’m very grateful that these guys trust me to add my style to what they’ve got going on. I’m stoked for this new era of Shiiva.”
