Track Premiere: Sister Thieves – ‘Crawl’

Sister Thieves

Finding a balance somewhere between ’70’s psychedelia and ’90’s alternative,  NYC doomy rock band Sister Thieves are leaving their mark on the Big Apple and beyond with their heavy grooves and haunting femme vocals. The band were formed as a trio in 2017 and released a self-titled EP in 2019 amidst extensive touring to promote the band, but the pandemic made a mockery out of many people’s plans. Now reformed as a duo of Steph Twyford-Rigley (vox) and Aaron Baker (guitar, bass, synth) they’re eagerly looking forward to the release of their new album Crawl on October 25.

Today, Sister Thieves are debuting the title track off of Crawl, a noisy, doomy track with guitars that buzz like demented chainsaws while Twyford-Rigley’s delicate and clean vocals perfectly contrast the cacophony. It’s the perfect blend of abrasive and beautiful.

“‘Crawl’ is probably my favorite track off the album,” says Baker. “For me, it’s the perfect mix of heavy sludgy guitars and melody. We’ve been kicking this idea around for a while. It started by sending recordings back and forth in the middle of the pandemic and then we finally finished it for the album this year.”
