Track Premiere: Slitasje – En Slags Lovesong

Slitasje

Swedish/Norwegian punk sensations Slitasje (which is Norwegian for Wear and Tear) are a product of the pandemic. Formed in 2020 by Swedish vocalist Sushila Gautam, who was working in Norway and began partnering with bassist Karl-Martin. Rounded out by the talents of Eskild (guitar), Thor-Inge (guitar), and Andreas “Puppy” (drums), this band pull from an eclectic range of influences to create a unique sound.

Today, Slitasje are debuting the latest single off their upcoming album Mandag Morgon (which translates to Monday Morning), due out June 28 from Dirt Cult Records. The track is called “En Slags Lovesong” (“Kind of a Lovesong”) and it’s got a bit of a fast-mod vibe a la The (International) Noise Conspiracy with a driving punk beat that makes it exciting and immediate. You don’t need to understand Norwegian to be able to appreciate this track.

“‘En Slags Lovesong’ translates to ‘Kind of a Lovesong,'” explains Gautam. “It is exactly that; it’s about love, and to love someone, but not the pink and fluffy kind … It’s more about love in unhealthy, unbalanced relationships, how love can be strong and loyal and intense but also destructive at the same time.”
