Track Premiere: Snapcase – ‘Back to Square One’

Snapcase for Iodine Recordings

To benefit the Randolph County Animal Shelter (RCAS) in Wedowee, Alabama, Iodine Recordings has really put together something special: a benefit compilation called The Dogs of Hope featuring 14 tracks (13 of them exclusive) from some of the biggest A-listers on the scene right now ranging from alternative to hardcore to metalcore. “This isn’t about changing the whole world,” says Tom Bejgrowicz, who began volunteering at RCAS in 2020 and who was instrumental in assembling this comp. “It’s about changing a world—one animal at a time.”

Today, the comp is premiering one of the most exciting tracks off the album with Buffalo hardcore punk legends Snapcase covering fellow Buffalo hardcore legends Zero Tolerance’s song “Back to Square One” from their 2010 EP Fuel the Fire. Trading in the blast beats of the original for a slower, steadier drumbeat and a machine-gun fire guitar riff, Snapcase puts a distinct spin on a local classic.

“The recording that Snapcase made for The Dogs of Hope is a cover song by the band Zero Tolerance called ‘Back To Square One,'” explains Snapcase vocalist Daryl Taberski. “This band and this song are really important to Snapcase. Zero Tolerance are considered the forefathers of Buffalo hardcore and we wouldn’t exist as a band if it wasn’t for them.”

The Dogs of Hope is due out on August 8 from Iodine Recordings, and you can preorder it here. Follow Iodine Recordings on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and Snapcase on Facebook for future updates.
