Having played together for as long as memory serves, Sterling Press is composed of Ed Higgins (guitar, vocals), Greg Smith (guitar, vocals), Marlon Reynier (bass, vocals), and Lucien Ismael (drums).
Following the success of their debut single “Very Fun Times” which announced their arrival as one of the most exciting new acts on the indie rock scene, Sterling Press are set to return with their second single “Lots Of Noise.”
Fuelled by the same relentless energy that made their previous release such a hit, the new track leans further into the band’s ska roots, whilst retaining the sense of experimentation that makes the sound of Sterling Press so fresh. Complete with Brit-style vocals, humorous lyrics and driving guitars, “Lots Of Noise” marks another impactful indie anthem from this promising four-piece.
Speaking about their new single, Higgins reveals:
“We wanted the drums to punch like they would in a garage track. Luce initially recorded the track at half tempo, and then we sped it up with a tape machine to get the electronic effect, which we are really happy with.”
Ismael adds:
“The track is really about a character who’s based on someone we know. It all came from the experience that they had, and the song developed from there. At its core, it’s about dreaming of something bigger whilst being stuck in something small.”
Now on an upward trajectory, the London locals have been working night and day on compelling future releases. With talk of a debut album well underway, 2021 is set to be a huge one for Sterling Press.
