Philadelphia garage pop act The Bacarrudas want you to Bleed Out, Get Pushed off a Cliff, Sink to the Bottom of a Lake, and Play a Halloween Monster House Party! That’s the full title of their new double EP that comes out October 3 on Schuylkill Beat Records and Mom’s Basement Records, or you can just shorten it to The Halloween Extended Player. With the help of their cobwebby organ, the group captures the spirit of 1960s novelty acts and the creepy camp of Vincent Price movies.
Today, the band are debuting the single “Lady Frankenstein” off the new EP. With a heavy dose of retro nostalgia, “Lady Frankenstein” is a catchy, kitschy masterpiece of ’60s pop brilliance. “‘Lady Frankenstein’ tells the story of ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ from the point of view of the monster,” explains the band’s Adam Rabuck. “The song takes the listener on a journey from initial excitement, to self depreciation, to grand gesture, to ultimate disappointment…much like our normal lives. Heads up, the chorus evokes a drunken singalong that could be heard at an 18th century tavern in the mountains of Switzerland.”
