Track Premiere: The Bad Ups – ‘Ego Trip’

The Bad Ups

Philadelphia punks The Bad Ups was formed in 2018 by frontman Travis McKayle. Being of Jamaican descent, McKayle named his band after the patois term “baddup,” which means to treat someone poorly or violently. Pulling influence from the best of the ’90’s and 2000’s Epitaph bands, The Bad Ups have had the pleasure of sharing stages with the likes of like Face to Face, The Bouncing Souls, The Adicts, and Street Dogs. Their debut LP Life of Sin is coming out September 27 from Jump Start Records.

Today, The Bad Ups are debuting the first single off of Life of Sin called “Ego Trip.” With its big, chunky, chord-based guitars and shout-along choruses, it captures the spirit of the classic Epitaph sound perfectly. “‘Ego Trip’ is about finding your place in the world while staying true to yourself,” explains McKayle, which is the perfect theme for an old-fashioned punk track. Check out the single below.

They’re playing tonight in Bensalem, PA with D.O.A. and War On Women. Tickets are available here.
