Track Premiere: The BellRays – ‘I Fall Down’

Riverside, California’s soul punk band The BellRays are back! After over 30 years as a band, they’ve got their unique sound down, but they’re also refusing to rest on their laurels.

Today they’re announcing the release of their upcoming album Heavy Steady Go! which is due out on August 30 from Sweet Gee Records. The album is the result of two different recording sessions in two different cities with two different rhythm sections over the course of two years, united by the two founding members of the band Lisa Kekaula and Robert Vennum. The first session in Tucson, Arizona featured Mark Cisneros (bass) and Ron Miller (drums) from Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds, while the second session at the band’s Sweet Gee Studios in their home of Riverside featured former member Craig Waters (drums) and newcomer Nico Miles (bass). The two sessions seamlessly blend into one powerful album.

“Coming from California and car culture, the power of music on A.M. radio is what inspired this collection of songs,” explains Kekaula.

Today, the band are also debuting the first single off the album called “I Fall Down.” A soulful, bluesy, sultry rockin’ slow burn of a number, this is already destined to become a BellRays’ classic.
