The Burning Paris drop the follow-up to their 2023 release for Dark Operative/Pax Aetemum later this year via A Thousand Arms Music.
The band, who split in the early ’00s and went on to play in On Fire, Eksi Ekso (Magic Bullet), and Lavinia (The Mylene Sheath) before reforming in 2021 with three new members, deliver their most devastating work today with Last Leaves.
This record is an emotionally rich and masterful post-punk album packed with climaxes and crescendos delivering waves of driving guitars, textured strings, crystalline keys, and precise drumming. The songs unfurl like waves, some calming and serene, others capturing the listener in an emotional undertow.
Drawing inspiration from a variety of genres, including shoegaze, dream pop, neo-classical, and post-rock, The Burning Paris retain a dedicated following that reaches all corners of the globe.
Today the band premiere “Coffin Bells” from the album.
“While the title might insinuate the opposite, this song envelopes hope, or at least the glimmer of something broken, being given one more chance at life,” says the band’s Nathan Shumaker. ” All of the tension of a new start, or even a possibility of another chance, shines bright. The ebbs and flows of a chance again exist in those moments of connection. For the moment, that is all that matters.”
The band are currently planning several 2025 and 2026 live dates, including with labelmates Ranges, and Man Mountain on July 21 at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston, MA.
