Track Premiere: The Color Fred – ‘Against Forgetting’

The Color Fred, aka the longtime band of Fred Mascherino, shares a cover of a song he wrote almost three decades ago in anticipation of his acoustic U.S. tour.
The Color Fred is the long-time band of Fred Mascherino, a songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The band’s debut, Bend to Break was released on October 30, 2007, following the guitarist/vocalist’s departure from Taking Back Sunday. Mascherino then entered the studio to record LP2 and wound up collaborating with his friends Josh Eppard (Coheed and Cambria) and Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit) in what eventually became Terrible Things. The trio signed to Universal Motown Records, released their popular self-titled full-length, then spent most of their time on the road supporting bands including The Offspring, Minus the Bear, Bayside, Circa Survive, and Streetlight Manifesto.

In 2019, Mascherino reconvened The Color Fred and in 2021 released A Year And Change via his Heading East Records label, a label that includes Mighty Tortuga, Oceans in the Sky, and Amora.

However, before Mascherino was the sought after shredder we know from his time in Breaking Pangaea, Taking Back Sunday, and now, Say Anything, he fronted Brody.

Today, he shares an “acoustic-leaning” cover of one of Brody’s songs, a song he wrote almost 30 years ago, in anticipation of his months long U.S. tour (dates below).
