Track Premiere: The Dumpies – ‘Locked Groove’

The Dumpies

How do you defeat gay boredom? You can either rewatch Bottoms for the 439th time, or you could listen to some awesome punk rock from The Dumpies. Formed in 2017 in Austin, TX, the band have since relocated to Oregon and have been building a reputation by touring all over the world, traveling from the U.S. to Mexico to South America to Asia and beyond. Their new album, Gay Boredom, is coming out on October 19 from Dirt Cult Records.

Today, The Dumpies are debuting their latest single off of Gay Boredom called “Locked Groove.” With a wild, devil-may-care approach to the song, this is fast, fun, sloppy punk at its absolute finest.

“Remember that Burger King ad campaign that said ‘why eat with a clown while you can dine with a KING’?” asks vocalist Joel Midden by way of explaining the song. “‘Locked Groove’ is about being stuck in a repetitive Sisyphean rut despite everyone telling you you have a choice. And after a lifetime of experience, all you have learned is ‘you can’t burgle the King!'”
