Track Premiere: The Slow Death – ‘I’ll Be Fine’

Slow Death

The Slow Death is back with its latest incarnation. The long-running project of Jesse “Pretty Boy” Thorson has seen an ever shifting-lineup over the years and now, for the project’s highly-anticipated fifth album, No Light to See (out April 11 on Don’t Sing Records) the new line-up of Jack Gribble on drums, Luke Lechler on organ+guitars, and occasional guitar licks from Alex Bammel feel like they’ve been playing together for years. Today, they’re debuting the single “I’ll Be Fine” off the upcoming album, an absolute ripper of a punk track.

“I wanted to write a song that truly replicated the feeling of self loathing and self sabotage and the instinct to just ignore it and hope that it won’t destroy you and make it funny,” explains Thorson. “I think I got closer than ever before.”

The record is out on April 11 on Don’t Sing Records, founded by husband-and-wife team of Thorson and Annie Sparrows (Panel, The Soviettes, Green/Blue, Bermuda Squares…) when trying to find a place for their projects’ — Slow Death and Panel — new albums which they felt didn’t fit in with punk labels, pop labels, rock labels, or art labels, being too much a combination of all four.
