Post-metal/doom quartet Thousand Limbs are sharing their new track “The Aurochs-Aligned” from their upcoming debut album The Aurochs.
Listen to the track here:
Guitarist Patrick Gray shares his thoughts:
“Based on the fith woodcut in the series ‘The Aurochs – Aligned’ re-establishes the main motif of the album in its fully developed form: first introduced in the opening track, and then reintroduced in track three, the ‘Leitmotif of The Aurochs – Aligned’ represents the emerging from the wilderness of the self with renewed purpose and balance while still remaining conscious on the need for self-discipline and focus.”
He adds:
“It’s a sonic interpretation of a perpetual cycle of disconnection and reconnection with a spiritual practice. The woodcuts act as an extra-musical guide, with a recurring motif representing the lost beast in the woods, disappearing then appearing again throughout the album.”
The Aurochs will be released on July19 through Azathoth Records.Thousand Limbs are currently doing a series of concerts across New Zealand. Live guitarist Grady Gottler will join the band on stage.
