The unlikely origin of Twist & Writhe came about when Jay Stillman (bass) and Leighton McCleaf (drums), who had worked together before, responded to an ad from guitarists Alex Slagle and Ben Vardjan. The four came together, originally as an instrumental band, and gradually built up a sound that’s been called post-hardcore or “grimy power pop.”
Today, they’re debuting their latest single called “Cover Me,” a song with the melodic bass line of a post-hardcore track, powerful guitars, and gruff, gritty vocals, creating something rooted in post-hardcore but with a better sense of pop sensibility. “Its my least favorite of our songs, but people seem to like it, so what do I know,” says Vardjan about the track. The track is out today, and you can save it on Spotify or Apple Music. Follow Twist & Writhe on Facebook and Instagram for future updates.
