Track Premiere: Unseemlier – ‘My Own Summer (Pop Shuv It)’

Unseemlier

Boston’s Unseemlier share “My Own Summer (Pop Shuv It)” from I Have a Screw Loose, Somewhere out June 13 on Sell The Heart Records. Recorded in the fall of 2024 with Zach Weeks at God City Studios, the 23-minute-long blast is full of heavy-hitting lyrics that listeners can easily connect with.

“‘My Own Summer (Pop Shuv It)’ is a nostalgia song; it compares the person you were in your late teens/early 20s, and the person you are today and begs the question, ‘Are we really that different?’ says vocalist/guitarist Mike Assatly. “All the struggles you endured and all the stupid decisions you made formed the person you are today, and as long as your happy with that person, in the end, it was all worth it!”

Founded in the fall of 2023, Unseemlier were born of emo nostalgia and a shared passion for raw, unapologetic music. Childhood friends Assatly, Chris Pina, and Kevin Merriam quickly wrote their first tape and soon after its release recruited Andrea Neuenfeldt for bass and vocal duties.

Since inception, Unseemlier have played all over Boston and New England to a growing fan base who are ready to hear what’s next from the self-described heavy emo/soft punk band. I Have a Screw Loose, Somewhere quickly rips through themes of addiction and loss, growing up in a suburban bubble, and battling to look at the world in a positive light. Preorder it here.
