Two punks go electronic. Wyatt Oberholzer and Michael Walsh were bandmates in the hardcore punk groups Chemical Fix and Fixation but, over time, their musical interests shifted, and they both became increasingly interested in electronic music.
Pivoting from guitars to synthesizers, the duo are making a radical change of style and pulled it off beautifully. Today, they’re debuting their first single “Nervous Tendencies,” which officially drops tomorrow but you get a sneak peek at it now.
“As the title suggests, ‘Nervous Tendencies’ is our attempt to exorcise the existentialist feelings of futility, anxiety and tension that everyone experiences from time to time,” says Walsh. “We found an inherent driving energy from the music that gave us a medium to channel both personal and universal themes in a cathartic way and wanted to share it.”
With a post-punk moodiness and gorgeous synthesized melodies, it’s shocking how far this duo has come from their punk origins. Check out the track below.
