Track Premiere: Wailin Storms – ‘4th of July’

Wailin Storms

Wailin Storms are sharing their new cover track “’4th of July,” which was originally written by Chris J. Cornell of Soundgarden. This new version of the song was engineered and mixed by Paul Blackwell and mastered by Carl Saff.

Listen to the track here:

The band share their thoughts:

“Soundgarden’s song ‘4th of July’ is heavy like a super-unknown figure dragging a carcass across a black hole sun while standing in the middle of a busy intersection in a Jesus Christ pose.”

They add:

“This track has always resonated with us and has a mystical quality. It’s cryptic, heavy, and eerily prophetic. It feels like the only honest response to what’s happening right now—where fascist snake-oil salesmen are looting the nation, gunning for World War III, gutting healthcare, erasing trans rights, locking up immigrants, and leaving poor and disabled people to die in the margins. All while demanding loyalty to some bloated fake king. Sound familiar?”
