Track Premiere: Wild Wild Wets – ‘Summer Gone’

Wild Wild Wets

San Diego’s Wild Wild Wets have been a staple of the Southern California music scene since 2012, bringing the sounds of the 1960s together with the grit of the 1990s to create a unique psychedelic sound that has left its mark on the local counterculture. Now they’re releasing their latest album, Time Mutations, this Friday, which features fully live takes recorded in a single room combined with hi-fidelity stereophonic overdubs for a truly expansive listening experience.

Today, Wild Wild Wets are debuting the single “Summer Gone” off the upcoming album. A trippy experience of a song that combines psychedelic sounds with ’90s jangle pop, there’s a certain joy in this song that will leave you smiling by the end.

“On their new album Time Mutations, Wild Wild Wets embark on a sci-fi laden creature quest through the thick jungles of psych-tinged funk and world beat rhythm to arrive at an island oasis in the heart of its journey,” says keyboardist and vocalist Mike Turi. “Guitarist Taejon Romanik takes the lead on vocals on ‘Summer Gone.’ It’s all jangle pop and shimmer on the surface, but lyrically, something more insidious brews where ‘some are lost to the night’ and ‘some are gone. They’re out of sight.’ Our protagonist admits, ‘If I could, I wouldn’t try to live my life and lies up on the screen’ before finally looking on the bright side of the dark times. ‘We’re on our way to something new.'”
