Track Premiere: Will To Live – ‘Cold Embrace’

Since forming in 1997, hardcore band Will To Live has been viewed as largely responsible for establishing a hardcore foundation in the state of Texas. After releasing a handful of influential works throughout the earlier ’00s, followed by being scarcely active over the last decade, Will To Live is plotting their comeback in 2023 in a major way.

Returning with a vengeance, Will To Live has announced the release of their upcoming LP, The Therapy Sessions, due out May 26 via Another City Records. As the band gears up for the release of the new album, New Noise is excited to unveil “Cold Embrace,” the second single off the LP.

The song explodes with two-stepping instrumentation delivered by guitarists Daniel Austin (Tooth And Claw, Die Young) and Chris “Conflict” Hatfield, drummer Mike “Fury” Arellano (Spirit Adrift, MOD), and bassist Eric Gibson. Will To Live vocalist Rob “Rob To Live” Galdamez (True Intentions/Outpost 31) screams directly from his heart, coating the concrete musical foundation with high levels of vulnerability and power.

Of the new single, Galdamez states: ‘”Cold Embrace’ is the second therapy session of the album. The track tells the story of a person I know that experienced mental abuse and emotional neglect as a child by the very person that was supposed to take care of them. The subject of the song is in their mid-30’s, and while now in a much better place, still sees a therapist to manage. While the song is telling the story of a specific person, I know it will be inevitable for people that have experienced the same or similar, as they did, to identify with those feelings from childhood, and get a chill down their spine. I assure you that if this happens, it’s not a coincidence. We’re often less alone than we realize.”

The Therapy Sessions Tracklist:

1. Molded
2. Cold Embrace
3. Resolute
4. Ever After
5. Before You Go
6. I Am
7. Into the Jungle
8. Nothing is Over

The Therapy Sessions features eight tracks of hardcore punk-inspired urgency, smashing breakdowns, and mean riffs. Furthermore, each track tells a story of survival from emotional abuse, spousal abuse, indoctrination, loss, depression, post-traumatic stress, and more, sending a meaningful message to all who listen.

Having been at the forefront of the Texas hardcore scene, Will To Live paved the way for internationally renowned acts such as Power Trip, Frozen Soul, Iron Age, Bitter End, and others. The Therapy Sessions is a must-listen for fans of hardcore and metallic hardcore, as it delivers an uncompromising wall of sound that showcases the band’s evolution over two decades, while staying true to their roots.
