Duke Charelle has been making music all of his life, starting with choir in kindergarten and moving up to horns and bass in jazz bands before eventually picking up a guitar as a teenager. Pulling from influences from Jimi Hendrix to Prince, Charelle has played for a number of funk legends and taken the stage at SXSW, Muskegon Music Festival, and more. His single “Liquid Galaxies” charted on the Top 20 Billboard chart in the Funk Compilation category as well as iTunes #6 in funk. He’s even gone on to sign artists himself, most notably signing OKTaeler to AMGCorp, who made some songs sampling “Liquid Galaxies.”
Today, we’re spotlighting Charelle’s new track “Tangerine Sky,” which marks his return to the world of funk. With the addition of Greg “G-Rock” Sanders on bass, Dean Ragland ( P Funk All-Star) on drums, and a rap verse from Chavis Chandler, “Tangerine Sky” is a beautiful funk track brimming with life’s joys.
