Brooklyn-based instrumental  psychedelic band Free Whenever have made a name for themselves by blending psychedelia with everything from dub reggae to African polyrhythms. They’ve graced the stages of such renowned venues as the Sultan Room and the Brooklyn Bowl. They’re gearing up for the release of their upcoming self-titled album and have already released the singles “Precipice” and “Sicily” off of the forthcoming record.

Today, we’re spotlighting the new album’s third single, which was released yesterday, called “Calypso.” Pulling from those African rhythms once again, the song is carried by a seamless symbiosis between the bass and drums. The twangy guitars add a beautiful melody that really makes this a trippy and fun little instrumental. Check out the track below.
