This Lonesome Paradise is a unique blend of Western noir and psychedelia, like a hallucination in a desert, a mirage in the distance. It’s at times darkly haunting and always beautiful. Founded as the brainchild of vocalist and guitarist E. Ray Béchard, the California group are rounded out by Jordin Bordeaux (keys/vocals), Ivan Garcia (drums), Chris Wilson (bass) and Herb Benham IV (slide guitar). Their new album Luna Nocturna is out on October 18.
Today, we’re spotlighting the song “Strange Door” off the upcoming record. “A tale of subconscious traveling, in an abstract cosmic desert, with a belly full of peyote tea,” explains Béchard. “Reality is skewed by the fragments of imagination, man or myth, beast or friend, what is and what is not … irreverence. I release myself to you; take me as I am.”
This dark track pulls off the mood it’s looking for, and it’s that desert moodiness that makes the track an absolute delight. Check it out below.
