It’s one scorching night at Melbourne’s hottest punk bar. Melbourne, Australia’s femme-forward punk band Arabella and The Heist are making their mark on their local punk scene after opening for German punk S.U.G.A.R and making an appearance at Mordi Fest alongside the likes of The Vanns, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teaser, the Pierce Brothers and more.
Today, they’re premiering the video for their latest single “1769,” which is a tribute to Melbourne’s legendary punk and rock ‘n’ roll venue the Cherry Bar, was founded in 1999 on ACDC Lane. The song is a buzzing punk song with an infectious, droning bass that somehow manages to evoke the fevered intensity of synth punk heroes Suicide. Inspired by a wild night out at the venue, the video seeks to recapture that experience in a thrashing, sweat-soaked video bathed in red light that creates a powerful depiction of Melbourne’s nightlife.
