Video Premiere: Assemble – ‘Destroy Everything’

Assemble

Are you ready to destroy everything? Philadelphia punk band Assemble is very ready.

Founded in 2011, Philadelphia melodic skate punks Assemble have been standing out from the crowd. Drawing influence from ’80s hardcore and metal as well as the early ’90s Fat Wreck sound, they’ve been making a name for themselves in the Philly scene and beyond. The band’s two consistent members from the beginning have been Matt Charles on guitar and Tim Fairchild on drums, with more recent additions Tyler Troutman on bass and Eric Nielsen on keyboards and saxophone rounding out the foursome.

Today, they’re debuting the video for their latest single “Destroy Everything” which, in classic punk fashion, is a song under one minute in length. It’s the first single off the upcoming album Wish You Well, their follow up to 2021’s Play for Keeps, due out March 29.

“’Destroy Everything’ is one of my favorite tracks on the new album,” says Charles. “It’s fast, heavy and melodic. I wanted to write a straight ahead ripper for the album, and after we recorded the album, ‘Destroy Everything’ stood out.”

The sheer blast of sonic energy that is “Destroy Everything” may last a mere 53 seconds, but the video is a bit longer than that, with an intentionally-wooden intro that seems to pay tribute to ’90s instructional videos. Then it moves into a tribute to absolute destruction and—wait, is that a reference to 1999 classic comedy film Office Space. This video has a little bit of everything, making for one of the most fun music videos you’ll have seen in a minute. Check it out below.
