Brooklyn alt-rock project bearchild are skilled at crafting killer melodies with enough guitar fuzz to keep the hard rockers happy. Today, they’re debuting the video for their latest single, “Maze,” a grungy, dream-pop number that brings to mind The Eels, Marcy Playground, and Crash Test Dummies. With a video focused on images of youthful exuberance in modern suburbia, it offers up a heaping dose of nostalgic imagery. The video was directed by Brendan McKnight, who is known for his work directing punk videos, and he hits it out of the park with the way this video perfectly captures the dreaminess of the song.
The track is off the band’s upcoming album, shadow boxer, which is due out June 13 and goes on presale today. Recorded at spaceman sound in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with engineer Tom Tierney, it promises to offer up the same powerful melodies and buzzing guitars.

“Maze” is streaming on all services now, and you can preorder shadow boxer here. Follow bearchild on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with future updates.
