Detroit, Michigan melodic punk band Cascade Riot took an unusual path for a band. After forming in 2015 and releasing their debut EP Code Red, they then followed that up by … taking a hiatus for six years? But what would have spelled the end for most bands was far from it for these rockers, who reformed in 2022 and have been consistently churning out rock tunes ever since.
Made up of Ryan Failla (vocals/guitar), Adam Brady (bass), and Alex Brady (drums), the band members’ history with each other stretches back to childhood. Ryan and Adam first met in middle school and began playing together in bands through their teen years, eventually bringing in Adam’s brother Alex on drums.
Today, they’re debuting the video for their new single “Exit 55,” which will be out everywhere tomorrow, to celebrate the band’s signing to PNWK Records. It’s also the first single off of the band’s upcoming label debut LP.
“The song is really just about being fed up with things and wanting to get away from it all,” explains frontman Ryan Failla. “We wanted to release it as the first single because it represents a side musically we haven’t really displayed before. With this and the other new material we’re working on, we’re really trying to expand on what Cascade Riot can be.”
With a raging power and a glorious sense of melody, “Exit 55” brings together every era of melodic punk into one explosive single. With the camera jumping and flickering, the video only offers brief glimpses of the band members, creating a video that’s more about the overall feel of the visuals, which perfectly matches the single. Check out the video below.
Cascade Riot will be playing August 3 and the Excellency Music Festival in Bay City, MI, so check them out there.
